This group, the Demo Online Groups Public Discussion group, was automatically created when I started this site. The titles of all the trial groups created when I started the site, begin with the title of the site "Demo Online Groups". Because this is a "Public Discussion Group", anyone can join the group and participate in the discussion. The other public group created is "Demo Online Groups Public Announcements". Members of the public can also join that group, but only authorised members can post. There are also three private groups on this site, but non-members can't see those. If you'd like to join one of the private groups to see how they work, just join this group and ask here. Feel free to use this group to experiment with an OnlineGroups.Net public discussion group. cheers Dan -- Dan Randow Projects Director OnlineGroups.Net ph +64-3-377-5377 +64-27-431-4928 Kenton Chmbrs, 190 Hereford St PO Box 739, Christchurch, 8140 Aotearoa (New Zealand) http://onlinegroups.net http://groupserver.org http://sociocorpus.net skype: vonrandow
Hello Dan,
I say that because only Dan is here now.
Hello Everyone,
Because lots of people are going to join this group. That was lesson number one
for me. I've been previously registered with Online Groups, and when the
message at the bottom of the page says, "If you are a member of this group you
have to LOGIN to post" I thought "That's easy and I offered my user name and
password with delightful results, I'm recognised". But I still can't post.
Penny drops. Some of us are really slow, forgive me Dan, your use of language
is SO precise, knife-like. "If you are a member of this group" the line reads.
So back to the Public Discussion Group homepage, and sign up.
It works. I'm here.
Newbies - Be patient with yourself. Dan usually says exactly what he means, but
if you've been in lots of places like I have, and you skip a line of two, or
don't read carefully because you've "got that" you can get into trouble. Let me
be precise. I get into trouble. It's always MY fault. Sometimes what I expect
and want I'm getting don't quite match, usually because Online Groups is
offering me extra services I'm not expecting.
Lessons in comprehension are badly needed at my house.
Thanks for the Demo Group Dan. I've already learned a lot.
Let us try to use it, post your own message here.
Short postscript:
I noticed a mistake just as I posted. No editing facility.
"Sometimes what I expect
and what I'm getting don't quite match,"
Yes I'm still having that trouble.
Hi John and Dan - actually Dan is sitting beside me showing me how to use this!
I quite like making mistakes John - I always try to make several when I'm
learning how to use a new tool - it can be fun!
I am not sure I like the green....
Hi Gina,
Great to have you here, and here.
As this is a demo group, by definition you can't do anything wrong.
Hi folks, and welcome to any new members in this online group.
We use this group to demonstrate OnlineGroups.Net from time to time, and I
invite you to do so, too.
If you no longer wish to be in the group, follow the instruction for
unsubscribing in the footer of this email.
